Nursing theorists - Portraits of excellence, Volume I
This series explores the life work and stories of 16 women who are widely regarded as nursing's premiere scholars. Each program features a modern theorist and includes video interviews in which the theorist discusses her life, the evolution of her work and its impact on nursing practice and education.

- Newman, Margaret: Health as expanding consciousnessNewman explains her theory of health as expanding consciousness in which health is based on consciousness, movement and space/time.
- Nightingale, FlorencePart 1 summarizes the life and work of Florence Nightingale. In part 2, Jacqueline Fawcett discusses Florence Nightingale's work and theory.
- Orem, Dorothea: Self-care frameworkThe basic features of her Conceptual Model Theories are described.
- Orlando (Pelletier), Ida: Nursing process disciplineOrlando discusses her theory of the nursing process, which stresses person-to-person contact and reaction to contact. Exploration of a person's verbal and non-verbal behavior is accomplished by nursing process discipline that results in effective communication with patients, other nurses and other professionals and non-professionals.
- Parse, Rosemarie: Theory of human becomingParse talks about the development of her nursing theory of man-living-health. Major principles of this theory are summarized at the end of the program.

- Roy, Sr. Callista: Adaptation model of nursingSister Roy describes the development of a conceptual model for nursing which views a person as an adaptive system that is a biosocial being required to adapt to environmental stimuli.
