The Basics
The Library staff is giving you a jump start on your research.
We've compiled some resources for each of your topics. By no means is the list exhaustive - there's a lot more great stuff to find! But each group's tab will provide a selection of material on its topic. The sources were chosen for their quality. To make sure you use accurate and credible sites, your group will have to do more than a Google or Dogpile search.
Using the Library's fee-based resources opens up information on your topic you can't find on Google. Plus, someone in the know has already signed off if the info is in our databases.
If you want to use the internet to supplement your research after using TheBRAIN, try limiting by domain. Rather than search for "Burnt Church Lobster Wars" try the following:
"Burnt Church Lobster Wars" site:gc.ca This will result in ONLY information produced by the government of Canada.
"Burnt Church Lobster Wars" site:org This will give you results ONLY from organizations. It's a little harder to get a '.org' site than a '.com' site and the info has a better chance of coming from a reputable source.
Other helpful domains include:
site:edu For educational sites in the United States (may not be too helpful for this assignment!)
site:on.gov.ca For provincial government sites (substitute ab, bc, .... for other provinces)
NOTE: When using site: there are no spaces!
Good Luck!
